Frequently Asked Questions

What is the schedule for our week?

Although specific schedules change from week to week, the program at the Scott River Lodge includes adventure activities, classroom time and plenty of time alone together as a couple. Common activities that are likely to be scheduled during your week are: river rafting, hiking or biking, and ropes courses.

Will we have free time?

Each week is a little bit different based on programming and facilitator’s curriculum. Some facilitators include more free time than others, however rest assured that you will have many opportunities to spend alone time with your spouse, enjoying our beautiful property.

What’s the difference between the H&W program at SRL and the HW program at JH Ranch?

Although programming is similar, the accommodations, food and overall service is elevated at the Scott River Lodge. The Scott River Lodge is more of a resort, whereas JH Ranch feels like a camp.

What are the accommodations like?

Although our rooms vary in size and location, all of our rooms offer a lodge feel - very comfortable, and with full amenities. We have guest rooms both in the main lodge as well as detached from the main lodge in the River Suites.

What about other amenities?

There is an exercise studio, as well as a sauna & hot tub. In addition to the main room, we also have numerous other areas for you to visit with other couples, or enjoy a private moment together.

May I request a specific room?

Rooms are assigned based on registration dates. Earlier registrations will be assigned to preferred rooms. (Rooms are rated according to guest feedback.)

Is there a hair dryer in our room?

There are hospitality-grade hair dryers available in each guest room, as well as small amenity bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. Those who rely on quality hair dryers may be more comfortable bringing their own.

What should I wear/pack?

We want you to be comfortable during your time at the Lodge, without the pressure of a dress code. Practically, there are some items you’ll need based on programmed activities: sensible footwear (sneakers, strapped sandals) for the activities at the ranch as well as the river rafting, hiking, biking opportunities at the Lodge. For typical SRL days, bring comfortable clothing with an option to layer (for cool mornings and evenings). Some people like to get dressed up for dinner. For example, ladies may wear a nice blouse or a dress, and gentleman might wear slacks and a polo shirt - again we want you to be comfortable while you are here.

What is the weather like?

Although the weather varies during the summer season, it usually consists of a dry heat of temperatures in the high 70s to mid 90s, dropping into the 50s or 60s overnight. During early June we may experience some rainy days.

Is there wifi?

Wireless internet is available in the main lodge, although not as fast as we are used to in the city.

Will I have cell reception?

For most carriers, cell phone reception stops where the yellow line in the road does (about 10-15 minutes from SRL). iPhone users can use the wireless internet to use the iMessage feature to send text messages to other iPhone users.

How can I be reached during my stay at SRL?

The main lodge phone number (530-496-3167) may be given out as a contact number, and there is wireless internet in the main lodge.

When is Check In and Check Out?

Check in time is from 6-8pm, with early and late check ins available by request. Check out time: 9:00am. Contact the Lodge staff at 530-496-3167 to discuss late and early arrivals.

Can I book the Lodge for a private group?

Yes the Lodge is available for private marriage retreats. We encourage private groups to pick a facilitator that suites their dynamic best, and then we help coordinate the rest. Minimum private group size is 8 couples, maximum is 11.

Can I book the Lodge for a private event?

Yes. The Lodge is available for weddings & corporate retreats during our "off season". Please call 530-496-3167 for more information, or email our Director at Ian@ScottRiverLodge.com.
